(NewsRadio); A Sri Lanka Army Captain has died in a motor accident in Welikanda this morning.
The Police Media Division said the accident occurred when the driver of an Army defender lost control of the vehicle which veered off the road and rammed on to a tree.
Five Army officers were traveling for work from Trincomalee to the Maduru Oya Army camp when they met with the accident along the Sinhapura-Welikanda road.
The Army Captain who was seated on the front passenger seat died in the accident.
He was pronounced dead upon admission to the hospital.
Four other officers including the driver have been admitted to the Polonnaruwa Hospital for treatment.
The deceased Captain was a 28-year-old resident of Matale.
The corpse is currently placed at the Welikanda Hospital.
The Welikanda Police is conducting further investigations.
