Court today granted anticipatory bail to former Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Hemasiri Fernando and former Inspector General of Police Pujith Jayasundara over the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks case.
The case has been filed against the duo by the Attorney General for failing to prevent the Easter Sunday bombings despite receiving intelligence reports pertaining to the matter.
Considering the request by the accused, the Special Permanent High Court-at-bar bench comprising Judges Namal Balalle, Mohamed Izzadeen and Aditya Patabendige granted anticipatory bail.
The case will be taken up once again on the 27th of August.
