COLOMBO (NewsRadio); Several opposition political parties are holding discussions to form a new alliance to contest the impending Local Authorities Election.
Accordingly, the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, Freedom People’s Congress and Supreme Lanka Coalition are in discussion to form a new alliance.
The alliance is expected to be led by a Leadership Council instead of one individual.
A party leader who is involved in the discussions informed NewsRadio that preliminary talks have been completed and an announcement could be made as early as this weekend.
All three groups contested the previous General Election under the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna ticket.
They were also part of the Gotabaya Rajapaksa-led administration before the former President was forced to resign.
