(NewsRadio); Another child injured in the train-three-wheeler accident in Pelena, Weligama has passed away.
The seven-year-old child succumbed to the injuries while receiving treatment at the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital.
Two persons, a nine-year-old child and the 32-year-old died after a train collided with a three-wheeler at a level crossing at Pelena, Weligama.
Four others also sustained injuries in the accident. Police said the train was plying from Matara to Kandy, when it collided with a three-wheeler at a level crossing in Pelena.
The nine-year-old child passed away upon admission to the Matara District General Hospital, while the three-wheeler driver died on the spot.
Four others including the two children and their mother were admitted to the Matara Hospital for treatment.
Further investigations are being carried out by the Weligama Police.
