A stock of 728,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine donated by Japan has arrived in the island.
The consignment arrived onboard the UL-455 SriLankan Airlines flight which landed at the Katunayake International Airport at 4.17pm.
A group of World Health Organisation officials also arrived in the flight which left the Narita airport in Japan at around 11.23am.
Accordingly, Sri Lanka has received 1.4 million AstraZeneca vaccine doses in space of eight days.
Last Saturday, Sri Lanka received 728,460 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine which was also a donation by the government of Japan.
The stock of vaccine doses arrived last week was used to administer the second jabs for eligible persons in the Western Province and also to inoculate residents of Kegalle.
