COLOMBO (NewsRadio); Another consignment of 60,000MT of coal is scheduled to reach Sri Lanka today.

The Lanka Coal Company said this will be the 16th coal shipment.

New contracts have been awarded to suppliers to provide coal needed for power generation.

The Company noted that coal stocks that are required to generate electricity to ensure uninterrupted power supply till September have been procured.

Last month, the government ended the scheduled power cuts that were in place for nearly a year and coal stocks will be essential to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
