1,711 individuals tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday.

1,688 among the group were identified as linked to the New Year coronavirus cluster while 23 persons who arrived in the island from overseas recently also contracted the virus.

Accordingly, Sri Lanka’s total coronavirus infections rose to 299,892.

1,349 individuals recovered and were discharged during the past 24-horus raising recoveries to 270,356.

25,341 persons are currently being treated for the coronavirus at facilities across the country.

Sri Lanka’s coronavirus related death toll meanwhile rose to 4,195 with the confirmation of 48 virus-linked deaths.
