(NewsRadio); The annual Sri Pada pilgrimage season concludes today.
Pilgrimage to Adam’s Peak will continue until midnight, followed by special religious ceremonies at the Adam’s Peak courtyard tomorrow afternoon.
The casket of relics, the statue and the regalia would be placed in a shrine room in Galpoththawela Raja Maha Viharaya till the Sri Pada pilgrimage season next year.
Accordingly, the relics which were placed in the Adam’s Peak courtyard with the commencement the pilgrimage season will be taken to the Galpoththawela Raja Maha Viharaya, Pelmadulla in a procession along the Ratnapura Palabatgala Road.
The Chief Sanganayaka of the Sabaragamuwa Province and the Chief Incumbent of Sri Pada, Most Ven. Bengamuwe Sri Dhammadinna Nayake Thera said a similar procession will be conducted by the troops at the Laxapana Army Camp which will commence from the Adam’s Peak courtyard and will travel towards the Nallathanniya Buddhist Center.
