The National Movement for Consumer Rights Protection has requested the government to allow the general public to purchase blue and yellow-coloured gas cylinders without differentiating, when buying LP gas cylinders following the merger to two domestic gas companies.
Speaking to NewsRadio, Chairman of the Movement Ranjith Vithanage said the supply of LP gas cylinders must meet the demand.
He urged the government to allow consumers to purchase and exchange gas cylinders, despite the colour.
Vithanage said since a private company has ceased operations, there will be a shortage of yellow-coloured cylinders.
He said therefore the government should provide a solution to the owners of such cylinders.
