Tamil National Alliance Parliamentarian Shanakiyan Rasamanickam says patients across the country have been severely burdened by the strike launched by health workers.
MP Rasamanickam said the people are suffering due to the government’s inabilities and irresponsibility.
He was speaking during a Parliamentary debate yesterday on two regulations under the National Drug Regulatory Authority Act and the Mahapola Higher Education Scholarship Trust Fund.
MP Rasamanickam said people have been burdened not only due to the strike but also owing to the shortage of medicine.
He said desperate people have been visiting hospitals to purchase insulin and other medicine.
The Parliamentarian said the present government came to power promising to create a prosperous country and to strengthen national security, adding that at present people are left struggling with carrying out day-to-day activities.
He said despite people’s sufferings, government affiliates are carrying forward their personal agendas.
Parliamentarian Rasamanickam said members of the government are daily being acquitted and released from court cases.
The Parliamentarian said he believes the present government came to power to acquit themselves from court cases and also to launder money that are held in overseas accounts.
