Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa says fake incidents involving infertile medicine induced food, sterile surgeries, and Dr. Mohamad Shafi led to inciting hatred between ethnicities that harmed unity in the country and threatened national security.

MP Premadasa said the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna sowed racism in order to gain power and condemned racism, religious extremism, and terrorism.

Premadasa added he and the Samagi Jana Balawegaya are of the stance that the country has nationalities and not minorities.

Speaking during a discussion with representatives of 12 national organisations MP Premadasa stated that despite interpretations of the 13th Amendment to the Constitution, it should continue to be enforced.

The Opposition Leader said the country is in danger due to racism and discrimination adding that such instances have tarnished Sri Lanka’s opportunities of seeking support from Middle Eastern countries.

He noted that all citizens must be treated alike and their rights protected.
