AI to be added to the school syllabus from next year

A decision has been taken to add Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence to the school syllabus from next year.

COLOMBO (NewsRadio); A decision has been taken to add Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence to the school syllabus from next year.

Minister of Education Susil Premajayantha said accordingly, the subjects will be added to the syllabus of Grade 9 to 13 students.

Speaking during an event, Minister Premajayantha noted as a pilot project, 20 schools have been selected and the programme will commence from end of June.

The Education Minister noted that the move was taken to in a bid to upgrade Sri Lanka’s education system to match international standard.

He also confirmed that several steps have been taken to popularize the English language among students.
