The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory for severe lightning in the next few hours.

COLOMBO (NewsRadio); The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory for severe lightning in the next few hours.

The Met Department issuing a statement said thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are likely to occur at several places in the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Western, Northwestern, North-central, Southern and Uva provinces.

It also predicted temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.

The general public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
