COLOMBO (NewsRadio); The Department of Meteorology says the depression over southeast Arabian Sea is likely to move northwards and intensify into a cyclonic storm during next 12 hours.
The Met Department said due to the system, wind speeds will be 60 to 70kmph and can increase up to 75 to 80kmph in Western sea areas during next 24 hours.
It added heavy showers or thundershowers and very rough seas can also be expected in seas off west of Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, the naval and fishing communities have been advised not to venture into the western sea areas until further notice.
Those who are out in western sea regions are advised to return to coasts or move to safer areas immediately.
