Several train journeys will be added to the service this weekend due to the demand from the public.
Sri Lanka Railways said accordingly additional trains will be deployed between the Colombo Fort and Badulla stations from today to Monday.
Sri Lanka Railways said, a train will leave from Colombo at 7.20pm daily from today to Sunday and reach the Badulla station the next day at 5.03am.
Meanwhile, a train will leave from Badulla at 7.30pm daily from tomorrow to Monday and expected to reach Colombo, the next day at 5.28am.
The night mail will continue to function between Colombo and Badulla stations daily as well.
Separately, rail services along the coastal line have been affected due to a train derailment near the Colpetty Station.
The Railway control Room said a train plying from Kankesanturai to Mount Lavinia derailed last evening between the Colpetty and Slave Island stations.
Accordingly, train delays have been reported along the coastal belt.
Meanwhile, several train journeys have also been cancelled following the incident.
