Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera has pledged to increase fuel allocation for buses and taxis.
Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said discussions were held this morning at the Ministry of Transport to identify the requirements of Sri Lanka Transport Board and private buses as well as taxis.
The Minister said during the meeting it was decided to identify the fuel requirements for each category by the Transport Commission which will then be conveyed to the Ministry of Energy.
The Energy Minister noted that once the requirements are received the Ministry will allocate additional quotas on a separate QR code by next week.
He said until changes are made the SLTB depots will continue to fulfil requirements of Private buses from the 107 SLTB depots.
Minister Kanchana Wijesekera noted that taxis will continue to receive the standard quota this week.
