COLOMBO (NewsRadio); A total of 988 prisoners have been granted Presidential pardon in view of Vesak Poya.
The Department of Prisons said the inmates have been pardoned by President Ranil Wickremesinghe under powers vested in him through the Article 34 of the Constitution.
Accordingly, 982 male and six female prisoners who were held in prisons across the country have received Presidential pardon in view of Vesak.
