(NewsRadio); A total of 84 persons have been arrested during special Police operations conducted in Elpitiya, Galle and Matara.

The Police Media Division said Police special operations were conducted with assistance of the Special Task Force, Sri Lanka Army and Sri Lanka Navy yesterday.

A total of 1,250 officers including 650 Police officers were part of the operation conducted with the Elpitiya, Galle and Matara Police areas.

During the operation, 1,080 vehicles and 2,436 individuals were inspected.

Police said during the operations, 68 persons including 16 individuals with outstanding warrants were apprehended.

Separately, the STF had conducted 16 raids with the participation of 253 personnel.

During the raids, 16 suspects including two females have been apprehended.
