Sri Lanka recorded more than 700 COVID-19 cases for the first time since travel restrictions were eased recently.
718 COVID-positive individuals were identified yesterday; 717 linked to the New year cluster and one individual who arrived in the island from overseas also tested positive.
Accordingly, Sri Lanka’s coronavirus cases rose to 546,653.
6,689 individuals were recorded as discharged yesterday increasing total coronavirus recoveries to 522,184.
The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said 10,577 persons are currently receiving treatment for coronavirus at several facilities.
17 COVID-deaths were also reported yesterday increasing Sri Lanka’s virus death toll to 13,892.
