COLOMBO (NewsRadio); The Ministry of Agriculture has decided to distribute goats to selected unemployed youth.
The Ministry said around 70,000 goats will be distributed free of charge under the scheme.
In addition to providing an income source to youth, the scheme is being introduced in a bid to promote goat farming in the country.
Although stall-fed goat farming in Sri Lanka is proven as a profitable livestock business, those involved have ventured out onto various other businesses.
Accordingly, the Agriculture Ministry is hoping to promote goat farming in selected areas through the distribution of goats free of charge.
