COLOMBO (NewsRadio); A total of 5,460 suspected dengue cases have been reported in the country so far this year.
The highest number of suspected dengue cases has been reported from the Colombo, Gampaha and Puttalam districts.
The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said 834 suspected dengue cases have been reported from Colombo, 790 cases from Gampaha while 692 cases have been reported from Puttalam so far in 2023.
Meanwhile, 459 cases have also been reported from Kalmunai and 418 cases from Jaffna.
Sri Lanka recorded 66,376 suspected cases in 2022.
The Health Ministry said a majority of the cases was reported from the Western Province.
Meanwhile, due to the increase in dengue cases, the Health Ministry said the general public must seek medical attention in the event of fever at least by day three of the illness.
