The Gampaha district yesterday recorded 535 new coronavirus cases.
The number of COVID-19 cases confirmed in the country rose to 306,662 following the detection of 2,460 patients yesterday.
441 new patients were detected from Kalutara, 222 from Colombo, 171 from Matale, 151 from Galle and 140 from Kandy.
The National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak said 138 positive cases were identified from Ampara, alongside 108 from Jaffna, 95 from Badulla, 62 from Kegalle, 57 from Monaragala, 49 from Ratnapura, 46 from Nuwara Eliya, 42 from Batticaloa, 35 from Puttalam and Matara, 32 from Polonnaruwa and 25 from Kurunegala and Hambantota.
The Centre added 11 cases were identified in Vavuniya, 10 from Kilinochchi, eight from Trincomalee, seven from Mullaitivu and Anuradhapura and three cases from Mannar.
The group also included five persons who arrived in the island from overseas.
