511 COVID-cases detected in Colombo yesterday

The highest number of COVID-19 cases among yesterdays recorded infections has been reported from the Colombo District recording 511.

2,922 individuals tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday increasing total infections to 339,092.

The National Operation Centre for the Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak said 402 cases were detected in Gampaha, 363 in Kalutara, 287 in Galle, 171 in Hambantota, 138 in Matale and 105 in Monaragala.

Meanwhile, 99 new coronavirus infections were recorded in Kandy, 97 from Jaffna, 78 each from Ampara and Badulla, 76 from Kegalle, 71 from Trincomalee and 70 from Anuradhapura.

Amongst the 2,922 cases were, 64 positive patients from Puttalam, 61 from Nuwara Eliya, 58 from Ratnapura, 45 from Batticaloa, 39 from Matara and 32 from Kurunegala.

Furthermore, coronavirus positive cases were also detected in Polonnaruwa, recording 30, while 18 individuals who arrived in the island recently from overseas also tested positive for the virus.

16 cases were detected in Vavuniya, six in Mannar, four in Mullaitivu and three in Kilinochchi.
