The Colombo district confirmed 330 new COVID-19 cases yesterday, the highest number from a region during the past 24 hours.
1,737 COVID-19 cases were detected in the country, yesterday, raising Sri Lanka’s coronavirus caseload to 294,850.
Among the cases recorded yesterday, 236 were from Gampaha, 156 from Kalutara, 111 from Batticaloa and 109 from Ampara.
The National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak said 96 infections from Galle, 94 from Jaffna, 76 from Badulla, 74 from Kandy, 67 from Ratnapura and 59 from Kegalle were also identified.
Furthermore, 49 cases each from Polonnaruwa and Monaragala, 35 from Kurunegala, 34 from Kilinochchi, 32 from Puttalam, 30 from Matara, 17 from Matale, 13 from Anuradhapura, nine each from Mullaitivu and Trincomalee, eight from Hambantota, seven from Nuwara Eliya, four from Vavuniya and three COVID-19 cases from Mannar were recorded yesterday.
The operation centre added that 30 persons who arrived in the country recently also tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday.
