The Association of Government Medical Laboratory Technologists says the country will have to face another COVID-19 wave in the next four to five weeks due to the actions of certain health officials.
Speaking during a media briefing President of the Association Ravi Kumudesh said due to discrepancies in the conduct of PCR tests the Delta variant has spread to all parts of the country.
Kumudesh said a limited number of PCR tests are conducted in the country at present.
He noted some laboratories have had to collect samples to conduct PCR tests as there were insufficient samples to conduct at least one round of testing.
He added the Delta variant has been identified in all parts of the country as predicted.
He claimed certain factions are attempting to keep COVID-19 funds and delay purchasing equipment in the same manner provisions were sent back after the first wave ended.
Kumudesh charged health officials of attempting to play it safe by refraining from reaching decisions.
However he urged health officials and the government to reach the necessary decisions by the time the next wave emerges in the country.
