2,953 COVID-19 cases detected in Sri Lanka yesterday

2,953 COVID-19 cases have been detected yesterday increasing Sri Lanka’s virus caseload to 332,947.

The number of COVID-19 cases confirmed in the country has risen to 332,947 following the detection of 2,953 patients yesterday.

Among yesterday’s cases 2,938 were linked to the New Year COVID-19 cluster.

15 persons who arrived in the country recently from overseas also tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday.

The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said 32,318 persons are currently receiving treatment for coronavirus at several facilities across the country.

Yesterday, 2,161 persons who recovered from COVID-19 were discharged from hospitals, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 295,518.

2,926 suspected COVID-19 cases are also under medical observation at present.

Sri Lanka also recorded the highest number of COVID-19 deaths in a single day on Sunday, confirming 111 COVID-related fatalities, increasing the death toll to 5,222.
