2,922 COVID-positive cases identified yesterday

2,922 individuals tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday.

2,904 persons were identified as linked to the New year cluster while 18 individuals who arrived in the island from overseas recently also contracted the virus.

Accordingly, Sri Lanka’s total coronavirus infections rose to 339,092.

The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health yesterday also confirmed 3,223 COVID-19 positive cases from last week that were delayed in being reported.

2,644 persons who contracted the coronavirus recovered and were discharged, raising the number of recoveries to 298,162 yesterday.

The Epidemiology Unit said 35,590 persons are currently receiving treatment for the coronavirus at several facilities across the country.
