Commander of the Sri Lanka Army General Shavendra Silva says a 24-hour vaccination drive commenced at 8.30am today, to administer the second dose of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine.
The continuous vaccination drive is currently operational at the Viharamaha Devi Park until further notice.
The 24-hour vaccination drive is being organised by the Sri Lanka Army for the first time.
Vaccinations are being carried out at 77 centres in the Western Province.
Health authorities instructed persons hoping to receive the second AstraZeneca dose to have in their possession the vaccination card they received when administered the first jab and the National Identity Card.
Minister of Health Pavithra Wanniarachchi said vaccinations will be carried out throughout the day and well into the night and therefore the public should not rush to vaccination points.
