19 COVID deaths & 697 cases confirmed in Sri Lanka yesterday

The number of COVID-19 cases confirmed in the country has risen to 556,626 following the detection of 697 patients yesterday.

The number of COVID-19 cases confirmed in the country has risen to 556,626 following the detection of 697 patients yesterday.

All cases were linked to the New Year COVID-19 cluster.

The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said 15,765 persons are currently receiving treatment for coronavirus at several facilities across the country.

Yesterday, 381 persons who recovered from COVID-19 were discharged from hospitals, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 526,734.

1,937 suspected COVID-19 cases are also under medical observation at present.

Meanwhile, yesterday, another 19 coronavirus related fatalities were confirmed in Sri Lanka, raising the death toll to 14,127.
