The opposition says the government and law enforcement agencies should take action and bring the perpetrators to book in relation to the recent death of a 16-year-old girl who died at the residence of Parliamentarian Rishad Bathiudeen.

Speaking to NewsRadio, Parliamentarian JC Alawathuwala said the government should take action against wrongdoers instead of hurling allegations against various parties.

He said the opposition is also urging the government to take forward the investigation without delay.

MP Alawathuwala said all Members of Parliament who are representing the party led by MP Rishad Bathiudeen are currently with the government and therefore it cannot accuse the opposition of attempting to sabotage the probe.

He said the government should focus on taking action against the wrongdoers based on the country’s law rather than making the incident a media spectacle.
