The parents of the 16-year-old girl who died recently due to burn injuries sustained in an incident while being employed as a domestic worker at the residence of Parliamentarian Rishad Bathiudeen has lodged a complaint with the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka.
Speaking to media after filing the complaint, the mother of the child said the girl was mistreated while being employed at the residence of MP Bathiudeen and alleged that she did not even receive adequate food or facilities during her stay.
The mother of the victim said the government should mete out severe punishment on the perpetrators to discourage anyone from committing such heinous crimes.
She also cast doubts about the contents of the post mortem examination carried out at the hospital.
