156 COVID-19 deaths have been reported during the past 24 hours, the highest number recorded in a single day, since the outbreak of the coronavirus.
The Director General of Health Services, confirmed that the deaths were recorded yesterday.
The Department of Government Information said Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 related death toll increases to 5,620.
87 males and 69 females were among the victims.
35 individuals, 22 male and 13 females, were between 30 and 59 years of age.
Meanwhile 121 persons, 65 males and 56 females among the group that succumbed to the virus, were 60 years of age or above.
