COLOMBO (NewsRadio); Over 15,000 individuals in four districts have been affected by adverse weather conditions in recent days.
The Disaster Management Centre said 3,672 families have been affected by heavy rains and gusty winds.
Gampaha has been the worst-hit area with over 9,500 individuals impacted, mainly by flooding.
According to the latest situation report by the DMC, 377 houses have been damaged due to bad weather.
Around 37 affected families have been relocated to safe shelters.
Meanwhile, the Department of Meteorology predicts showers or thundershowers at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern and North-western provinces and in the Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts.
The Met Department said heavy showers above 100mm can be expected at some places in the Hambantota District, while fairly heavy showers above 50mm can be expected at some places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle, Matara and Puttalam districts today.
It added showers or thundershowers can be expected in several places elsewhere, particularly in the Eastern and Uva provinces during the evening or night.
Meanwhile, the general public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
