Sri Lanka Navy assists father and two children stranded off Thalaimannar

During a routine patrol on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2026, the Sri Lanka Navy found a father and his two children, aged 11 and 13, stranded on a remote sandbank off Thalaimannar and provided urgent humanitarian assistance.

The latest rescue brought to 11 the number of stranded people the Navy has assisted on Saturday alone, including 5 children, 4 women and 2 men. The group is due to be handed over to the Thalaimannar Police for onward action.
