Showers or thundershowers expected in several provinces after 1.00 p.m.

The Department of Meteorology has stated that showers or thundershowers will occur after 1.00 p.m. today at several places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva and Southern Provinces, as well as in the Ampara and Batticaloa districts.

Mainly fair weather conditions are expected to prevail in other parts of the island.

The general public is advised to take adequate precautions to minimise possible damage caused by temporary localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Misty conditions can be expected during the early hours of the morning at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva Provinces, as well as in the Kurunegala and Anuradhapura districts.
